Genus NIDULARIA Targioni Tozzetti View in CoL
Nidularia Targioni Tozzetti, 1868: 727 View in CoL . Type species: Coccus pulvinatus Planchon , by subsequent designation of Signoret 1875: 17.
Diagnostic characters of the adult female: Body of live adult female oval, soft, flat, brownish dorsally and with a yellowish white venter that secretes a waxy ovisac. Slide-mounted adult female without legs; tubular ducts present; dorsal setae, if present, conical; anal ring with both pores and setae. With narrow ventral submarginal band of tubular ducts (only 1‒4 ducts wide) also containing some quinquelocular and bilocular pores. Abdomen without irregular sclerotized spots ( Miller et al. 2014; Spodek & Ben-Dov 2014). Anterior spiracles usually about same size as posterior spiracles.
Comments: Worldwide, three species are included in Nidularia ( García Morales et al. 2016) ; N. balachowsky Bodenheimer has been recorded from Iran ( Bodenheimer 1941).
