Vernacular Names: Zanj Sun Squirrel.
Synonyms: Heliosciurus daucinus Thomas 1909 ; Heliosciurus dolosus Thomas 1909 ; Heliosciurus marwitzi Müller 1911 ; Heliosciurus shindi (Heller 1914) .
Distribution: SE Kenya; NE Tanzania, including Mafia and Zanzibar Isls.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Considered a subspecies of H. rufobrachium by Amtmann (1975), but treated as a separate monotypic species by Grubb (1982 b).
