Holotype:— BRAZIL. São Paulo. Jardim Botânico de São Paulo , cultivated, 18 November 1946 (fl), F. C. Hoehne s.n. ( SP barcode SP 00400 [digital photo!], isotype SPF barcode SPF 00071761 [digital photo!]).
Taxonomic notes:—According to Hoehne (1947), this species could be a spontaneous hybrid between Aristolochia brasiliensis Martius (1824: 77) and A. triangularis Chamisso (1832: 209) , both cultivated at Jardim Botânico de São Paulo.

Taxonomic notes:— Aristolochia decursive-bracteata is a heterotypic synonym of A. urbaniana Taubert (1890: 13) (see Hoehne 1942b).

Taxonomic notes:— Aristolochia droseroides is a heterotypic synonym of A. ridicula Brown (1886: 360) (see Hoehne 1942b).

Holotype:— BRAZIL. Pará, Belém, Canudos , September 1914 (fl.), M. Moss s. n. ( MG!); isotype INPA No. 13339 (ste.).
Taxonomic notes:— Aristolochia dubia is a heterotypic synonym of A. mossii Moore (1915: 4) (see Ahumada 1977).

Nomenclatural notes:— Hoehne (1942b) first published the name without a Latin description or diagnosis, but validated it in one of his later work ( Hoehne 1944).
Taxonomic notes:— Aristolochia eggersii is a heterotypic synonym of A. pilosa Kunth in Humboldt et al. (1817: 146) (see González 1994).
Aristolochia ernestulei Hoehne (1927: 86) View in CoL
Holotype:— BOLIVIA. Rio Acre , Cobija, December 1911 (fl.), E. Ule 9341 ( MG!, isotypes F barcodes F0048813 F!, F 0BN004911! [digital photos!], G barcode G00237203 [digital photo!]).
Nomenclatural notes:—The label in a phototype deposited at F (from the specimen deposited at B, destroyed) says “Monte Alegre, seringal San Francisco, September 1911, Ule9341 ”. This appears to be a mistake, because the date and the locality do not match with the type specimen.
Taxonomic notes:— Aristolochia ernestulei is a heterotypic synonym of A. pilosa Kunth (see González 1990).
