Apion longirostre Gravenhorst, 1807: 198
This species is compared in the original description with A. pilosellum Gravenhorst, 1807 , currently a synonym of Eutrichapion vorax (Herbst, 1797) . In a handwritten note, Gravenhorst himself, after Hellwig’s indication that another Apion longirostre was described by Olivier, replaces his Apion longirostre with the name Apion mustelinum .
Body vestiture description, shape of rostrum and its close affinity with A. pilosellum allow for the selection of a specimen of E. vorax as the neotype of A. longirostre . It is a female (fig. 3) labelled: Thuringia sept. Kyffhäusergeb. Grauer Berg, 19.5.1959. 28., Dorn / Apion vorax Hbst., Dieckmann det. 1960 / NEOTYPE Apion longirostre Gravenhorst, 1807 , C. Giusto des. 2015 / Eutrichapion vorax (Herbst, 1797) det. C. Giusto, 2015. Measurements: body length: 2.51 mm, Lr: 0.87 mm, Wmsr: 0.14 mm, Lp: 0.53 mm, Wp: 0.60 mm, Le: 1.80 mm, We: 1.10 mm.
The following new synonymy is proposed: Eutrichapion vorax (Herbst, 1797) = Apion longirostre Gravenhorst, 1807 , syn. n.
