Diagnosis. Head and mesosoma predominantly smooth. Frons finely punctate on more or less smooth background. Lower 0.7–0.8 of clypeus flat, separated by transverse crease from upper 0.2–0.3 of clypeus. Flagellum of female with 17–18 flagellomeres (Fig. 3). Foveate groove of mesopleuron narrow and sharp, about half as long as mesopleuron length (Fig. 7). Basal area of propodeum narrow, basal longitudinal carinae more or less parallel (Fig. 9). Thyridial depression transverse ( Fig 26 View FIGURES 21 – 26 ). Apex of ovipositor lanceolate, equally tapered dorsally and ventrally, with very small and narrow dorsal subapical notch (Fig. 15), sheath 3.8–4.6 times as long as first tergite. Scape and pedicel of antenna ventrally yellowish, distinctly paler than flagellum.

Distribution. South Korea (new record), South of the Russian Far East (Khabarovsk reg., Primorskiy reg.).
Biology. Flight period in May to June. Reared from Xyela alpigena (Strobl) (Xyelidae) on Pinus cembra L. ( Pinaceae ) in Austria (Khalaim & Blank 2011).
Remarks. In the review of the Palaearctic fauna of Gelanes (Khalaim, 2002) one specimen with shorter ovipositor was described as forma “curticauda”. We re-examined this specimen and propose that it actually belongs to a new species, described below as G. provectus sp. nov.
