† Melanopsis briarti Munier-Chalmas, 1897 View in CoL [invalid]
Original source.
Munier-Chalmas 1897: 86.
Type horizon.
Late Danian, Paleocene.
Type locality.
“Mons” ( Briart and Cornet 1873: 71), Belgium.
Remarks.
Introduced for Melania buccinoidea sensu Briart & Cornet, 1873, "non Férussac” (actually it should read "non Olivier, 1801"). Junior homonym, as well as junior objective synonym of Melanopsis briarti Cossmann, 1888. Obviously, Munier-Chalmas overlooked that the name had already been introduced for the very same misidentified taxon by Cossmann.
