Ophiopogon peliosanthifolius Rodriguez (1934a: 95) View in CoL
Material cited in the protologue:― Laos: Pak loi (Thorel 3356 pro parte), ‘Pak lai’.
Type:― Laos. Pak lai, Expédition du Me-kong, April 1866 –1868, C. Thorel 3356 (holotype P, barcode P 00753578!).
Note:―At P, there are four sheets of C. Thorel 3356, which comprise two different species. In the protologue, Rodriguez (1934a) cited “ Thorel 3356 pro parte” under this species. One sheet of Thorel 3356 ( P 00753578) designated here as the holotype has a label inscribed by Rodriguez with “ Ophiopogon peliosanthifolius ”, and agrees more or less with the original description; e.g., leaf blades are up to ca. 4 cm wide, and the style is thick and conic. In the other three sheets of Thorel 3356 ( P 00509924, P 00753579*, P 00753580*), leaf blades are mostly under 10 or 11 cm long, thus disagreeing with the blade length described for O. peliosanthifolius (over 10 cm). These three specimens are likely to have been identified by Rodriguez (1934b) as O. marmoratus , since he also cited “ Laos: Pak-lay (Thorel)” under it.
Current name:― Peliosanthes gracilipes ( Craib 1912: 411) Tanaka (1999b: 148) .
