Material cited in the protologue:― Tonkin, sans localité.
Type:― Vietnam. Tonkin, cult in Hort. Bot. Paris., June 1905, Labroix s.n. (holotype P, barcode P 00509918!).
Other original material examined:―[Manuscript with illustration]: An unpublished manuscript by Pierre with drawings of floral parts from the same plant as the holotype titled “ Ophiopogon labroyanus Pierre sp. nov. ”, attached to the holotype.
Note:―No duplicates of the type specimen are currently found at P. The holotype is annotated in pencil as Ophiopogon subverticillatus (supposedly by Gagnepain).Apart from this, I have not seen any manuscript by Gagnepain that was indicated to exist by Rodriguez.
Current name:― Ophiopogon longifolius Decaisne (1867 –1868: 182), see Tanaka (1998).
