Type (lectotype, designated here):― Cambodia. Province de Kampot, environs de Kampot, forêt du Pnom Kumchay, 15–19 March 1914, A. Chevalier 31824 ( P, barcode P 00214607!).

Other original material examined:― Vietnam. Cochinchina, in insula Phu Quoc, February 1874, L. Pierre 6688 ( P, barcode P 00214608). [Illustration]: A sheet of drawings made by E. Delpy in June 1904 of an infructescence and its parts from Pierre 6688, attached to P 00214608. Two of the drawings are reproduced in Rodriguez (1934b: 671, fig. 66-11–12).

Note:― Peliosanthes serrulata was published by Rodriguez (1934a) based on two syntypes, Chevalier 31824 and Pierre 6688. The former is in flower, while the latter is in fruit. In the protologue, he described many floral characters, hence the specimen Chevalier 31824 is designated as the lectotype. Drawings of this species in Rodriguez (1934b: 671) are based on the lectotype (fig. 66-9–10) and on P 00214608 (fig. 66-11–12). A small paper packet to keep the fragments of Pierre 6688 is attached to the sheet of Chevalier 31824.
