Gryllotalpa Latreille 1802: 275 . Type species: Gryllus Acheta gryllotalpa Linnaeus Curtilla Oken 1815: 445 . Type species: Gryllus Acheta gryllotalpa Linnaeus Austrotalpa Mjöberg 1913 . Type species: Austrotalpa pluvialis Mjöberg

Species diversity. 70 species are formally recognised in Orthoptera Species File, including one extinct species ( Eades et al., 2016). From the Oriental region, 26 species of Gryllotalpa mole crickets are recorded.
