Genus Cinnamomoides Seward, 1925
Type: Cinnamomoides newberryi sensu Seward, 1925 ; Cretaceous ?; Atanikerdluk, Greenland .
Remarks.—The systematic position and the stratigraphy of the type of the form genus Cinnamomoides are rather unclear. First, it is not assured that Cinnamomoides newberryi sensu Seward (1925) be synonymous with either “ Cinnamomum ” newberryi Berry, 1911 from the Cenomanian Raritan Formation of New Jersey ( Berry 1911b) or with Daphnogene sezannensis (Watelet, 1866) de Saporta, 1868 from the Eocene of Sézanne ( France) (the latter was the opinion of Heer [1882] who first described Cretaceous leaves from Greenland). Then, the material from the locality Atanikerluk (Atanikerdluk) in the Nuussuaq (Nûgssuaq, Nugssuak) Peninsula in western Greenland is a mixture of Cretaceous and Paleocene plants (Lower and Upper Atanikerdluk floras, respectively; Graham 1999: 152; Dam et al. 2009).
