Material studied. COLOMBIA, Villavicencio, on Inga sp., 1972, Friedmann and Koster ( USNM): 2/2 1stinstar in fair to good condition. VENEZUELA, Maracay, on Cassia alata , 21.xii.1938, C.H. Ballou ( USNM): 1/ 2 in good condition.

Unmounted material. Not seen.

Mounted material. Length 700–770 ųm, width 430–480 ųm.

Dorsum. Hair-like setae, each mainly 8–16 ųm long; more or less in 6 longitudinal lines or bands; hairs each 13–16 ųm long. Spines mainly 20–25 ųm long but shorter near anus: present on all abdominal segments; totals on each side (dorsum + venter combined): I 0–4, all marginal; II 4–8, all marginal; III 5–10, mainly marginal; IV 7–11; V 8–14; VI 11–16; VII 14–18, and VIII 2 or 3 near margin only; distribution: mainly marginal but segments III–VIII each with submarginal groups of 2 or 3 spines, and segments IV–VII with some spines medially. Large bollard-like spines, each 5–12 ųm wide: distribution as in generic description. Pores: (i) simple convex pores, each 3 ųm wide: 1–3 present near each eyespot; (ii) small sclerotised pore, each about 4–5 ųm wide, with a central projection: in 6 longitudinal lines, as with setae, with 1 per segment in each line; (iii) large bilocular pores, each about 10 ųm long and 8 ųm wide: present as in generic description; (iv) tubular pores in 2 submarginal and 2 submedial rows; each pore 6–8 ųm long and about 6 ųm wide: present on meso- and metathorax and abdominal segments I–VI. Abdominal spiracular atrium each 12–18 ųm long. Anal area: anal opening about 35–45 ųm wide; with 1 ring of 27–37 short, tubercle-like pores; wide sclerotised, circular band 108–130 ųm wide, with some spines, small sclerotised pores and bollard-like spines. Anal tube complex 75–85 ųm long; each ring of pores with about 10–15 pores. Eyespots each about 25 ųm wide.

Venter. Hairs and setae similar to those on dorsum but apparently more randomly arranged; hairs anterior to anus 75–90 ųm long; some hair-like setae between antennae and near procoxae 50–65 ųm long; anal lobe setae about 430 ųm long. Spines mainly marginal but with a few present submarginally on abdominal segment VII. Large bilocular pores as in generic description; large bollard-like spines: 1 associated with each thoracic spiracle. Tubular pores as in generic description. Antennae 6 segmented, each about 275–310 ųm long; scape about 37–42 ųm long, with 5 setae; pedicel 55–70 ųm long, with 5 setae; flagellar segments III–V each 25–40 ųm long, with 4 or 5 setae; apical segment large, each 75–95 ųm long, with 8–10 setae, 2 large antennal bristles and 4 or 5 small bristles; surface lightly reticulated. Clypeolabral shield 195–215 ųm long; labium 195– 215 ųm long. Thoracic spiracles: peritreme 8 ųm wide, muscle plate 16–23 ųm long. Legs: metathoracic (length ųm): coxa 50–56; trochanter + femur 160–190 ųm; tibia 165–200; tarsus 100–106; claw 30; each coxa with 4 setae; trochanter as in generic description; femur with 6 or 7 setae; tibia with 11–16 setae, most distal seta about 100 ųm long; tibia with some dermal reticulations on distal end; tarsus with 5 or 6 setae; claws as in generic description.
