Distribution: Siberut, Sipora, N and S Pagai Island (Sumatra, Indonesia).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).
Discussion: Formerly included in insignis ( Chasen, 1940) or niobe ( Chasen and Kloss (1927). Part of the rodent fauna endemic to the Mentawai Archipelago (see comments under Leopoldamys siporanus ).
