Type:— MADAGASCAR. Central Madagascar, Baron 4306 (holotype K barcode K000232822).

Secondary distribution:— Italy = (Sicily) cited by Cambria et al. (2023: 4, 8, 14 of 20); (Calabria) cited by Spampinato et al. (2022: 2327), as casual; (Tuscany) Elba Island ( Gallo 2017); (Basilicata) Stinca et al. (2021). Morocco cited by Dobignard & Chatelain (2011) as cultivated and sometimes naturalised. Algeria = recorded for the first time by Sakhraoui et al. (2024).

Notes:—The designation “ K. laxiflora subsp. violacea ” Boiteau & Mannoni (1949: 76) cited in Gallo (2017) was not validly published (Smith & Figueiredo 2019), because no Latin description or diagnosis, or reference to such, was provided ( Turland et al. 2018: Art. 39.1).
