Type specimens. Holotype: female. Côte d’Ivoire, Gouédié 25 km NW Man, Plantagen in Regenwaldfragmenten, 20 viii 1997 LF, leg. T. Karisch, gen. slide no. GU-3898/Karisch, in SDEI . Paratype: 1♀, same data as the holotype ( MNVD) .
Diagnosis. This new species is superficially similar to T. barbata Meyrick, 1933 , by having a yellowish-white, triangular costal patch, but it can be distinguished by the 2 nd segment of labial palpus more roughly scaled ventrally. The female genitalia can be differentiated from any previously described species by the broad and short ductus bursae, and the signum with similar lips divided by the very broader median groove.
Description. Female ( Figs. 6A, A View FIGURE 6 2 View FIGURE 2 ). Wingspan 14.0 mm. Head: blackish-brown, margins paler brown.Antenna about as long as forewing; scape elongated, broadened distally; flagellum brown with some fuscous scales, whitish towards tip, slightly serrated, finely ciliate. Second palpomere of labial palpus thickened, arched, pale brown; 3 rd palpomere slender, a bit longer than 2 nd palpomere, upturned, brown, paler dorsally. Thorax: Dark brown. Hind tibia roughly scaled, shiny, dark brown, with a pale-yellow scales distally, pale yellow ventrally; spurs grayish yellow. Forewing ground color dark brown, with a violet lustre in basal half; antemedian band with two black dots; costa slightly arched in basal ¼, with small, yellowish, trapezoidal costal patch on 4/5 of costa; apex rounded; termen straight; fringe blackish, shiny. Hind wing ground color grayish brown, darker towards outer margin; apex more or less obtuse; fringe grayish brown, with narrow, pale yellow basal line.
Abdomen ( Fig. 6C View FIGURE 6 ): Dark brown dorsally. Spinous zones well-developed on dorsal surface.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 6B View FIGURE 6 ): Abdominal sternite VIII narrowed distally, deeply emarginated into U-shape medially. Ostium bursae broadly concave. Antrum bowl-shaped, membranous, about 1/5 the length of ductus bursae. Ductus bursae broadened overall beyond narrowed conjunction with antrum, nearly parallel-sided. Corpus bursae ovate, about half the length of ductus bursae; signum with similar lips anteriorly and posteriorly, divided by the very broader median groove.
Male unknown.
Distribution. Ivory Coast (Montagne District).
Etymology. Named after the Latin, - cuneus (= wedge), referring to the wedge-shaped costal patch on the forewing.
