Notes. Physarum bivalve was one of the most widely distributed species in the Andean highlands. This species stands out by the laterally compressed sporotheca, double peridium, and warted spores. The material studied is slightly variable since some collections show paler spores on one side, similar to those in Ph. clavisporum , although in the latter, the spore ornamentation consists of prominent spinules.
