Aerenea subnuda View in CoL m. trinidadensis Breuning, 1948: 29.
Remarks. This species was described based on a single specimen from Brazil (without further details). Melzer (1923) described A. subnuda based on syntypes from Brazil (S„o Paulo); Monné et al. (2017) designated a lectotype for A. subnuda . Breuning (1948) described A. subnuda m. trinidadensis based on a single specimen from Trinidad and Tobago, an infrasubspecific name without nomenclatural value ( ICZN 1999: Article 45.6.2), which cannot be validated in Breuning (1980) who used A. subnuda ssp. trinidadensis ; this is because the ICZN (1999: Article 45.6.4.1) does not address the initial use of “morph” (m.). Therefore, “ trinidadensis ” in Breuning (1948) is permanently infrasubspecific. Monné (1980) synonymized A. subnuda and A. subnuda m. trinidadensis with A. brunnea . Currently, it is known from Costa Rica, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, French Guiana, Suriname, Brazil (Pará, Mato Grosso, Goiás, Ceará, Maranh„o, Bahia, Pernambuco, Sergipe, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, S„o Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul), Bolivia (Beni, Cochabamba, La Paz, and Santa Cruz), Paraguay, and Argentina (Misiones) ( Bezark 2023b; Monné 2023b; Tavakilian & Chevillotte 2023). However, Monné (1980) listed: “ Mato Grosso: … Corumbá, 1 [symbol of male] (NMSF); Coxim, 1 [symbol of male], 3 [symbol of female] (MZSP) …” These two cities are in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul (see remarks in Pachypeza phegea and Oxymerus basalis ).
