Holotype: —D.R. CONGO. Sud Kivu: Dorsale ad ovest del lago Kivu. Montagne di Shamulamba : nella foresta della valletta aperta a sud-est nel versante orientale della cima a nord del rifugio del Groupe de Montagne du Kivu. Epifita a 4 metri dal suolo, 2500 m, 24 October 1953, R.E.G.Pichi Sermolli 4468 ( FI003262 , digital image!).

Specimens seen:— Western Province: Préfecture de Cyangugu (= Rusizi), Commune de Kirambo, Forêt autour de Uwinka, 23 June 1999, C.E.N.Ewango 2037 ( BR0000009450394 ) ; Mt. Bigugu , 22 March 2009, E.Fischer s.n. ( KOBL) . Southern Province: Colline Uwagahunga , près du village de Rugera, au sud de la préfecture de Gikongoro (= Nyamagabe), 6 September 1974, P.Auquier 3950 ( BR0000016310315 ) .

Habitat: —Epiphyte in montane forest, elev. 2500–2800 m.

Endemic status: —Albertine Rift Endemic.

Distribution in Rwanda:—Western Province: Nyungwe NP, Mt. Bigugu. Southern Province: Nyungwe NP.

General distribution: —Africa: D.R. Congo, Rwanda.
