Ambrysus scalenus La Rivers View in CoL
( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 )
Ambrysus scalenus La Rivers 1953b View in CoL : Univ. Kans. Sci. Bull., 35: 313–314.
Published records. Mexico: Estado de México, Michoacán ( La Rivers 1953b; Reynoso-Velasco & Sites 2016a, 2018a, 2018b, 2019b).
New state records. Mexico: Guerrero, Oaxaca, Puebla .
Distribution. The previously known distribution of this species included only two locations, El Sabino (type locality in Michoacán) and Paso de Vigas (Estado de México). Based on the material examined for this study, Ambrysus scalenus is distributed exclusively in central Mexico ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ). The collecting records, all below an elevation of 2000 meters, fall within the boundaries of the Balsas Basin biogeographic province; thus, A. scalenus apparently is endemic to this province. The highest elevation where the species has been collected is 1851 meters, in the upper section of the Balsas Basin (Oaxaca). There are no records of the species from Morelos, but this central state is entirely within the upper section of the Balsas Basin; therefore, A. scalenus most likely is present in this area.
