Filaments ± caespitose, fasciculate, 11.45–27.77 µm wide. Sheath firm, 1.25–4.38 µm wide, non-lamellated or up to 2 lamellae, hyaline to brown. Trichomes cylindrical, heteropolar, with coleosdemoid branches, constricted or not. Apical cell rounded or rounded-conical. Cells isodiametric, sub-quadratic or short, 7.82–20.76 µm wide, 2.1–10.77 µm long, ratio l/w = 0.66. Cell content granulated, blue-green. Basal heterocyte elliptical, 9.15–19.78 µm wide, 5.87–15.16 µm long. Necridia present. Hormogonia next to apical portion, constricted, apical cell rounded, cell short.

Habitat: —Rock fully exposed to the sun; associated with Stigonema fremyi , Microcoleus vaginatus and Scytonema scmidtii .

Notes: —This morphotype differs from Hassallia andressanii by its habitat and geographic occurrence ( Komárek et al. 2012).
