Brasilonema cf. terrestre C.L. Sant’Anna et J. Komárek in Sant’Anna et al. (2011:59) ( Fig. 12Q–S View FIGURE 12 ).

Filaments forming fascicles conical, erect and parallel. Sheath firm, thin, non-lamellated, hyaline to brown or absent. Trichomes cylindrical, false geminate branches rare near substrate, different in apical portion. Cells sub-quadratic to short, 11.42–14.66 µm wide, 6.78-12.46 µm long, ratio l/w = 0.77. Apical cell rounded. Cell content granulated, blue-green. Heterocyte rare, isodiametric to short, in intercalary position and next to substrate. Necridia present. Meristematic zone in apical portion with hormogonia.

Habitat: —Steep slope next to the road.

Notes: —This morphotype has features similar to a young population and it differs from Brasilonema terrestre Sant’Anna et al. by its habitat.
