Distribution: NE India, N and C Burma; Anhui, Hunan, Guangxi and Yunnan ( China), Laos, south through Vietnam, Thailand, peninsular Malaysia.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Formerly included pyrrhomerus ; but see Moore and Tate (1965), and comments under D. pyrrhomerus . Chromosomes described by Nadler and Hoffmann (1970).
