Type species. Esagonatopus niger (Fenton, 1924) , by original designation.
Diagnosis. Female ( Plate 134A, B View PLATE 134 ): apterous ( Plate 134A, B View PLATE 134 ); palpal formula 6/2; antenna without rhinaria; pronotum crossed by strong transverse impression ( Plate 134B View PLATE 134 ); enlarged claw with distal apex pointed, with one small subapical tooth, without lamellae, with bristles or peg-like hairs ( Plate 136A View PLATE 136 ); tibial spurs 1/0/1. Male ( Plate 135A, B View PLATE 135 ): fully winged ( Plate 135A, B View PLATE 135 ); occipital carina absent or incomplete; in this last case, only present behind and shortly on sides of posterior ocelli; occiput concave; temple present; palpal formula 6/2; tibial spurs 1/1/2.
Distribution. Nearctic, Neotropical, Oriental.
Hosts. Cicadellidae (except Typhlocybinae , Idiocerinae , Macropsinae ) ( Guglielmino & Olmi, 2006; Virla & Olmi, 2007).
World species. Seven species are known, one in the Oriental region.
