Remarks. Cantor (1847c) first listed Singapore as a locality for H. torquatus , and said it is rare based on catches in fishing nets ( Cantor 1847c). No additional specimens or reported observations for H. torquatus exist. Subsequent publications likely refer to Cantor (1847c). Since there are inconsistencies regarding the localities of Cantor’s specimens, we refrain from including H. torquatus into Singapore’s herpetofauna checklist.
