General distribution: Central Asia ( Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tadzhikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan), northern Afghanistan, northwest China.

Note: —Diagnostic features of Prangos arenaria are close to those of P. cachroides . Schischkin (1950a) emphasized the grey pubescence of leaves as the most important feature of P. arenaria (vs. the white pubescence of leaves in P. cachroides ). In our opinion this difference is not significant and could not separate P. arenaria from P. cachroides . The latter is variable and widely distributed in Central Asia. Therefore we suggest to add P. arenaria as a synonym under P. cachroides .
