2. Euconnus beckianus Franz View in CoL
Euconnus beckianus Franz 1989:31 View in CoL , fig. 67.
Euconnus amazonas O’Keefe View in CoL , new name, for E. beckianus Franz, 1994:78 View in CoL .
Etymology: The name was derived from Amazonas, the state in Brazil where
the type series was collected.
Franz described the first E. beckianus based on a male and female collected near Manaus, Brazil ( Franz 1989:31) and the second E. beckianus based on a male and female also collected near Manaus ( Franz 1994:78). The senior E. beckianus is 1.10–1.20 mm long and 0.50–0.55 mm wide, antennomere XI is longer than wide, the parameres of the aedeagus are slender, and the base of the aedeagus is slightly rounded ( Franz 1989:58, fig. 67). The junior E. beckianus is 1.30 mm long and 0.60 mm wide, antennomere XI is about as long as wide, the parameres are wide, and the base of the aedeagus is slightly emarginate ( Franz 1994:62, fig. 20). I propose E. amazonas as a replacement name for E. beckianus Franz, 1994 .
