1. Euconnus boavistae Franz View in CoL
Euconnus boavistae Franz 1967:681 View in CoL , fig. 53.
Euconnus boavistensis O’Keefe View in CoL , new name, for E. boavistae Franz, 1994:73 View in CoL .
Etymology: The name was derived from Boavista, the type locality.
Franz described the first E. boavistae based on a single male collected from Florista de Tijuca at the Alto de Boavista near Rio de Janiero, Brazil ( Franz 1967:681), and the second E. boavistae based on a single male collected from the mountain west of Mucajai near Quatroirmanos, Brazil ( Franz 1994:73). The first species was placed in Napochus, a subgenus of Euconnus . The second was placed into Euconnus (Euconnus) , however, the description of the pronotum and antenna indicate that this, too, belongs in Napochus and not Euconnus (Euconnus) . The senior E. boavistae is 1.15 mm long and 0.60 mm wide, the aedaegus has a short apical projection, and the parameres are nearly as long as the aedeagus ( Franz 1967:675, fig. 53). The junior E. boavistae is 1.50 mm long and 0.70 mm wide, the aedeagus has a broad, triangular apical projection, and the parameres are half the length of the aedeagus ( Franz 1994:61, fig. 11). I propose E. boavistensis as a replacement name for E. boavistae Franz 1994 .
