6. Euconnus maracayanus Franz View in CoL
Euconnus maracayanus Franz 1988a:70 View in CoL , fig. 11.
Euconnus paramaracayanus O’Keefe View in CoL , new name, for E. maracayanus Franz
1989:16, fig. 47. Etymology: The name was derived from ‘‘para’’ and ‘‘mar
acayanus.’’
Franz described the first E. maracayanus based on a male and female collected from El Limón, Brazil ( Franz 1988a:70) and the second E. maracayanus based on a male collected from Parque Nacional Rancho Grande ( Franz 1989: 16). The senior E. maracayanus is 1.10–1.20 mm long and 0.46 mm wide, antennomere VIII is twice as wide as VII, antennomere XI is shorter than IX and X combined, and the pronotum lacks a basal impression. The junior E. maracayanus is 1.50 mm long and 0.65 mm wide, antennomere VIII is 1.5 times as wide as VII, antennomere XI is as long as IX and X combined, and the pronotum has a basal impression. I propose E. paramaracayanus as a replacement name for E. maracayanus Franz, 1989 .
