Diagnostic characteristics. Large sized, dark reddish brown, surface very smooth and glabrous, strongly shiny, impunctate; clypeus 6-setose, elytra concolorous, flat, and polish, striae very shallow, striate-punctate, intervals flat.
Contains only one species: H. laevissimus Chaudoir, 1878 .
