Promalactis clavivalvata Wang , sp. nov. ( Figs 2, 5 View FIGURES 2‒7 )
Type material. Holotype ♂, Mt. Trusmadi (5.44°N, 116.45°E), Sabah, Malaysia, 1223 m, 10.V.2019, coll. S Yu, slide No. LC 19142 GoogleMaps . Paratype: 1 ♂, 13.V.2019, other data the same as for holotype.
Diagnosis. This new species is similar to P. magnifurcata Wang, 2018 in the forewing pattern, but it can be distinguished by the features of the male genitalia. In P. clavivalvata sp. nov., the uncus is bifurcate from basal 2/5, the valva is not twisted medially, and the juxta lacks lateral lobes and a basal lobe; whereas in P. magnifurcata , the uncus is bifurcate from about distal 1/5, the valva is twisted medially, and the juxta has a distally furcate lateral lobes and a clubbed basal lobe ( Jia & Wang 2018: 329).
Description. Adult ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 2‒7 ). Wingspan 10.0‒ 10.5 mm.
Head with vertex cream white, mottled with silvery grey scales on frons, occiput brown. Labial palpus with second segment blackish brown on outer surface, white tinged with yellow on inner surface; third segment black except white basally. Antenna with scape creamy white; flagellum blackish brown on ventral surface, white on dorsal surface except annulated with blackish brown distally.
Thorax and tegula blackish brown. Forewing orange yellow; large silvery-grey patch from between distal 2/5 and 1/5 of costal margin widened toward dorsum, mottled with sparse black scales along its anterior and outer margins, edged with black scales along anterior half and with a white streak along posterior half of its inner margin, with a rounded yellowish-brown spot at its middle on dorsum; apex deep yellowish brown mixed with silvery grey; dorsum with an ovate blackish brown stripe along base, edged with a white line on outer margin; cilia blackish brown along distal part of costal margin, pale ochreous yellow around apex, deep greyish brown along termen to before end of fold. Hindwing and cilia dark grey. Fore- and midlegs white dorsally, black ventrally, fore tibia with white median dot and white apex, fore tarsus white at apices of two basal tarsomeres; hindleg dirty white ventrally, greyish brown dorsally, tarsus greyish white except basal tarsomere greyish brown dorsally and distal tarsomere blackish brown.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 2‒7 ). Uncus with basal 2/5 sub-quadrate, sclerotized laterally, arched and with setae at about basal 1/5; distal 3/5 bifurcate, each lobe slender, extending from posteroapical corner to narrowly rounded apex. Gnathos shorter than uncus; gnathos plate narrowly produced, rounded at apex, scaly; lateral arm shorter, widely banded, produced laterally. Tegumen divided from posterior 1/3, thereafter almost uniform to rounded apex. Valva with basal half wide, rectangular, distal half clavate, setose, rounded at apex; costa with a short spine arising from base. Sacculus wide at base, slightly narrowed and fused with valva distally. Saccus shorter than uncus, broad, slightly narrowed to rounded apex. Juxta longer than hight of tegumen, wide at base, slightly narrowed to approximately basal 1/6, then slightly widened to distal 1/4, uniform from distal 1/4 to straight apex. Aedeagus longer than valva, curved; cornutus absent.
Female unknown.
Distribution. Malaysia: Borneo.
Etymology. The specific epithet of this new species is derived from the Latin clav- and valvatus, referring to the shape of the distal half of the valva.
