Pseudoscopelus lavenbergi Melo, Walker Jr. & Klepadlo View in CoL species group
Composition. The Pseudoscopelus lavenbergi species group is composed of a single species: P. lavenbergi .
Diagnosis. The Pseudoscopelus lavenbergi species group is diagnosed from its congeners by three unique characteristics of photophore pattern: trf in a broad band of three or more rows (vs. trf absent in P. scutatus and P. astronesthidens species groups; in a single row with widely spaced photophores in P. altipinnis species group, and in a single row of closely spaced photophores, with a medial cluster in P. scriptus species group); ptvf short, not reaching anus, and extending anteriorly only halfway to pelvic-fin origin (vs. ptvf elongate, extending close to anus, and extending anteriorly to very close to pelvic-fin origin in all the other species); mxf completely absent and apf present (vs. both mxf and apf absent on P. scutatus species group; both apf and mxf present in the remaining species).
