Lectotype (designated here):—[illustration] “Pu-valli” in Rheede, Hortus Malabaricus 7: t. 42.1688. Epitype (designated here):— INDIA, Maharashtra, Mahabaleshwar , 17º54’55.8” N 73º41’23.8” E, 23 Nov. 2019, Arun Prasanth & M. M. Sardesai APR0003 ( BSI). GoogleMaps

Almeida & Almeida (1993) proposed a new combination of E. drupacea based on Dennstedt (1818) name Pothos drupaceus by citing the plate from Rheede’s (1688) Hortus Malabaricus. While proposing the new combination authors have designated a neotype which is found contradictory to Art 9.8 of ICN ( Turland et al. 2018). As the illustration for the taxon is available in Hortus Malabaricus based on which the name was proposed, the neotype designated by the authors is erroneous. Hence, the Rheede’s illustration “Pu-valli” (7: t. 42) is designated here as lectotype. Further, epitype is designated here in accordance with Art. 9.9 of ICN Turland et al. (2018) as the illustration only portrays the female flowering and fruiting branch.
