Type data: This species was described based on two matander males collected in Venezuela and Brazil. Moure (1969) designated the Brazilian specimen as the lectotype which has the following data label: Brasil. [printed] Helmreich 1846 [handwritten]\ Centris minor n. sp. ♂ [handwritten] det. Friese 1898 [printed]\ [red label] Paratype [printed]\ [light blue label] Lectotype Centris minor Friese, 1899 Moure, 1969 des. [handwritten] ( NMW). The specimen from Venezuela was found in the HNHM and it has the following data label: Venezuela St. Parime 1897 [printed]\ Centris minor ♂ Fr. type. [handwritten] 1900 Friese det. [printed]\ [green label] PARA-LECTÓTIPO [printed]\ [green label] Paralectotype Centris minor Friese, 1899 F. F. Oliveira ds. 2014 [handwritten] ( HNHM).
Type locality: Brazil .
Comments: The lectotype is a metander specimen possibly collected by the Austrian mine engineer Virgil von Helmreichen zu Brunnfeld (1805–1852) during a trip between Rio de Janeiro ( Brazil) and Asunción ( Paraguay) ( Otruba 1969). The type locality cannot be further narrowed down than to Brazil .
