Basionym:— Rhamnus precalifornica Axelrod (1939: 122) .

Type (lectotype designated here):— UCMP 1504 (University of California Museum of Paleontology, Berkeley, USA) – figured by Axelrod (1939: pl. 11, fig. 1).

Geography:—Tehachapi, Kern Co., California, USA.

Stratigraphy:—Miocene.

Status:—Leaves.

Note:—The fossil-species is compared with extant Frangula californica ( Eschscholtz 1826: 285) Gray (1849: 178) . A lectotype of Rhamnus precalifornica , leaf imprint showing venation, is designated from the collected specimens of Miocene sediments (Tehachapi, Kern Co., California, USA).
