This species was reported from the Aegean coast of Turkey by Arnaud (1976), Krapp et al. (2008), and Çinar et al. (2008); from the Sea of Marmara by Demir (1952); and from the Bosphorus by Stock (1962). This is the first record of A. pygmaeus from Mersin Bay and the Mediterranean coast of Turkey.
