Peromyscus interparietalis Burt 1932 View in CoL
Peromyscus interparietalis Burt 1932 View in CoL , Trans. San Diego Soc. Nat. Hist., 7: 175.
Type Locality: México, Baja California Norte, San Lorenzo Sur Isl; 28°36'N, 112°51'W. GoogleMaps
Vernacular Names: San Lorenzo Deermouse.
Synonyms: Peromyscus lorenzi Banks 1967 ; Peromyscus ryckmani Banks 1967 .
Distribution: North and South San Lorenzo Isls, and Salsipuedes Isl, N Gulf of California, México.
Conservation: IUCN – Endangered.
Discussion: P. eremicus species group. Considered distinct from P. guardia and P. eremicus ( sensu lato) by Banks (1967) and Lawlor (1971 a; also see Avise et al., 1974, and Brand and Ryckman, 1969). Marginally differentiated from P. eremicus based on all characters surveyed by Lawlor (1971 a) but retained as species; phyletic relations, as divulged by mitochondrial DNA ( COIII) sequences, indicate derivation from a P. eremicus ( sensu stricto) stock and suggest only subspecific differentiation from those mainland populations ( Hafner et al., 2001).
