Etymology. Named in honor of Luis Picasso Vallebuona, an outstanding individual from Temuco city, who relentlessly engaged in actions on behalf of the community and played a vital role in the protection and subsequent foundation of the Monumento Natural Cerro Ñielol natural park, where the new species is present.
Diagnosis. Gonopods. Telopodite bifid, as in Anaulacodesmus bifidus Golovatch, 2014 , with a spatulated, basally geniculated (115°), blade-like medial branch and a horn-like solenomere ( Figs. 4C View Figure 4 , 6 View Figure 6 A-B). In contrast to the spiniform and distally acute solenomere of A. bifidus , that of A. piccasovallebuonai sp. nov. is tube-like and apically truncated.
Description. Male (holotype, JP-413B). Head. Clypeolabrum moderately setose, vertigial region less setose; epicranial suture thin and evident, tip with 2+2 setae. Antennae long and slender, reaching ring 4 when extended posterodorsally; relative length of antennomeres: 2> 3> 6> 5> 4> 7 ≥ 1; antennomeres 5 and 6 with a small dorsodistal patch of minute bacilliform sensilla. Body. Ca. 23 mm in length. Midbody (ring 8) prozonae ca. 2.0 mm and metazonae ca. 2.5 mm wide. Coloration (preserved in ethanol) light marbled brown, with a poorly defined triangular dark area on metaterga; legs pale yellowish grey ( Fig. 5 View Figure 5 ). Body slightly moniliform, with 20 rings ( Fig. 5 View Figure 5 ). Width: head = collum <ring 2 = 3 <4 <5 <6 = 7 = 8 = 9 = 10, thereafter body gradually tapering towards telson. Collum elliptic with subtriangular rounded lateral margins, slightly concave posteriorly, rimmed, bearing 3 rows of setae. Paraterga poorly developed except on rings 2-4, rimmed dorsally, with broadly rounded margins, set at ca. 1/3 of midbody height. Paraterga laterally subquadrate on ring 2, reaching lower than the collum and ring 3. Paraterga slightly produced caudally behind tergal margin, dentiform on rings 16-19. Sides below paraterga with arcuate striae. Metaterga predominantly smooth. Rings 7-18 with very shallow sublateral sulcus above paraterga, more pronounced on posterior segments. Tergal setae distributed in a single row (largely abraded). Pleurosternal carinae present as a small ridge. Ozopore arrangement typical for Polydesmida (5, 7, 9-10, 12-13, 15-19). Ozopores dorsolateral, lying slightly in front of the caudal corner. Body surface glossy, texture mostly smooth throughout and microalveolate ( Fig. 5 View Figure 5 ). Limbus microspiculate. Axial line absent. Stricture dividing pro- and metazonae broad and shallow. Epiproct long, tip truncated, with several long setae borne on small knobs. Paraprocts bearing 2+2 setae borne on small, well separated knobs. Hypoproct subtriangular, with a trilobed tip, caudal (1+1) setae borne on small, well separated knobs. Ventral side of ring 2 with a shallow pit near the lateral margins. Sternal surface with short, sparse setae. Sternites 3-5 and 9 bulging, remaining sternites without modification; transverse cross impressions evident, longitudinal ones indistinct. Legs. Long and incrassate; midbody legs (ring 8) ca. 1.4 times body height; leg pairs 1 and 2 distinctly setose ventrally, prefemora of legs 3-7 strongly swollen laterally. Gonopore small, rounded, opening on a short distomedial bulge on coxae of leg 2, with setae at tip. Most legs with femur covered with small, medially branched setae ventrally, reduced on postfemur. Prefemur with a combination of simple and short oval-shaped setae. Postfemur, tibia, and tarsus with ventral sphaerotrichomes, tip of tarsus with simple setae distally and laterally. Coxa, prefemur, and tibia bearing a single long seta. Gonopods. Aperture subcircular, with posterior margins slightly extended outwards. Gonocoxites fused medially, moderately setose at base. Sides of telopodite parallel for most of their length; inserted at 90° relative to the coxae; suberect, with rows of setae posteriorly; compressed transversally, central region thin, nearly translucent; medial margin thickened. Telopodite bifid, with well separated branches. Medial branch (me) spatulated and blade-like with a triangular base, strongly geniculated at 115°. Solenomere (sl) tube-like, evenly curved medially, apically truncated ( Figs. 4C View Figure 4 , 6 View Figure 6 A-B).
Female (paratype JP-413B). All characters as in male except as follows ( Fig. 5 View Figure 5 ): Head. Antennae shorter than in male, reaching ring 3 when extended posterodorsally; relative length of antennomeres: 2> 3> 6> 5 = 4> 7 ≥ 1. Body. Ca. 19 mm in length. Midbody pro- and metazonae (ring 12) ca. 2.1 and ca. 2.5 mm wide, respectively. Width: head <ring 3 <collum = 4 <5 <2 = 6 <7 <8 = 9 = 10 = 11 = 12 = 13, thereafter body gradually tapering towards telson. Paraterga of ring 2 with slightly flabellate lateral margins, reaching lower than the collum and ring 3. Hypoproct subtrapezoid. Ventral side of ring 2 unmodified. Epigyne without visible tooth. Anterior sternites of ring 4 slightly bulging, remaining sternites unmodified. Legs. Short and slender, midbody legs (ring 12) ca. 1.1-1.2 times body height. Leg pairs 1 and 2 distinctly setose ventrally, the latter with a small triangular process at the posterior side of coxae, and a tiny rounded and slightly upcurved spiniform process at the proximal end of prefemora. Most legs with simple, unmodified setae ventrally. Sphaerotrichomes absent.
Remarks. This species is morphologically similar to A. bifidus principally for the bifid condition of the telopodite, a character not observed in other members of the genus.
