Genus Beieroschema nom. nov.
A lloschema Beier, 1954. Revision der Pseudophyllinen 1, Madrid, Inst. esp. Ent., 427. (Insecta: Orthoptera : Ensifera:
Tettigonoidea: Tettigoniidae : Pseudophyllinae: Pleminiini ). Preoccupied by Alloschema Jordan, 1928 . Novit. zool.,
34, 153. (Insecta: Coleoptera : Curculonoidea: Anthribidae ).
Remarks on nomenclatural change: The name Alloschema was initially introduced by Jordan (1928) for a beetle genus with the type species Aloschema turneri Jordan, 1928 in Coleoptera . This genus is still used as a valid generic name. Subsequently, Beier (1954) described a katydid genus with the type species Platyphyllum guttatum Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1895 by original designation under the same generic name in Orthoptera . Also it is still used as a valid genus name and there is no synonym. Recently, the genus Alloschema Jordan, 1928 was placed in Zygaenodini (from Cappadocini) by Lyal & Alonso-Zarazaga (2006). Thus, the genus group name Alloschema Beier, 1954 (Orthoptera) is a junior homonym of the genus Alloschema Jordan, 1928 ( Coleoptera ). So I propose a replacement name Beieroschema nom. nov. for the genus name Alloschema Beier, 1954 .
Etymology: from M. Beier who is the author of the preexisting genus Alloschema .
Summary of nomenclatural changes: Beieroschema nom. nov. pro Alloschema Beier, 1954 (non Jordan, 1928); Beieroschema cuspidatum ( Beier, 1954) comb. nov. from Alloschema cuspidatum Beier, 1954 (distribution: Southern America, Central America, Panama, Lino); Beieroschema guttatum (Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1895) comb. nov. from Alloschema guttatum (Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1895) = Platyphyllum guttatum Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1895 (distribution: Southern America, Brazil, Brazil North, Amazonas, Amazonas: Cumbasi); Beieroschema tricuspidatum ( Beier, 1954) comb. nov. from Alloschema tricuspidatum Beier, 1954 (distribution: Southern America, Western South America, Peru, Marcapata).
