Description. Depressed broadly ovate shape, dull reddish brown colored shell with dark brown zigzag band pattern. Apex anterior eccentric. Shell rather small, ranging from 10 mm to 30 mm in diameter. Shell narrower posteriorly and moderately elevated. Margin smooth. Shell smooth, inner surface is semi-translucent with light shine. Foot is grey in colour. Tip area of cephalic tentacles does not differ in coloration. Mantle skirt with numerous large to small tentacles.
Radular morphology ( Fig. 9f View FIGURE 9 ). Radula type: docoglossan formula: 0 + 3 + 0 + 3 + 0. In this species, the radular ribbon is short and uncoiled and horizontally positioned in the body cavity. In every row, there are three lateral teeth: the first is pointed, the second broad and curved, the third is narrower than other two; many other Lottia species have reduced or very small marginal teeth at both the ends. But in this species, we did not observe separated marginal teeth.
Materials examined. Specimens were collected from Manori coast, Maharashtra coast, India (19°13’00.7”N, 72°46’51.1”E). Five specimens (length 12.1–18 ± 2.57 mm, width 9.72–13.9 ± 1.63 mm and height 3.6–6.1 ± 0.86 mm were examined. One specimen having Museum ID: ZMGDLP28.1, coll. Bhavik Vakani, was deposited in the Museum
Remark. Our specimens closely resemble Patelloida lentiginosa as reported in WMSDB (2016) (WoRMS, 2017).
Habitat. Side walls of immersed dark volcanic rocks and puddles of middle to upper littoral areas of the coast.
Distribution. This species is observed on the coast between Manori (Maharashtra State) and Kanniyakumari (Tamil Nadu State). It is reported from the mainland Indian coastline for the first time.
