Lottia View in CoL sp.
( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 , Fig. 9g View FIGURE 9 )
Descrition. Moderately to low conical in shape with numerous blackish stripes on shell, giving a dark brown band pattern. Apex is anterior, eccentric. Shell size ranges from 10 mm to 20 mm in diameter. Shell is narrower posteriorly, moderately elevated. Margin uneven and rough. Shell smooth. Inner surface semi-translucent showing color pattern of upper surface. Foot colour mostly whitish. Tips of cephalic tentacles not different in coloration. Mantle skirt has two large and three small tentacles.
Radular morphology ( Fig. 9g View FIGURE 9 ). Radula type: docoglossan, formula: 0 + 3 + 0 + 3 + 0. The radular ribbon is short and uncoiled. In every row, three lateral teeth are present: the first is pointed, the second is broadly curved, the third narrower than the other two. Many Lottia species have very small marginal teeth at both ends, but in this case, no such marginal teeth were observed.
Materials Examined. Specimens were collected from the Revupolavaram coast, Andhra Pradesh, India (17°23’41.57”N, 82°49’5.90”E). Five specimens (length 11.9–14.8 ± 1.0 mm, Width 9.9–12.4 ± 1 mm and height 3–5.6 ± 1 mm were examined. One specimen deposited in the museum (ZMGDLL100.1, coll. Bhavik Vakani).
Remark. Despite our best efforts, we could identify this species up to generic level only and we found no other reports.
Habitat. Puddles and crevices of vertical zonation in middle to upper.
Distribution. This limpet species was observed in the rocky intertidal at Vishakhapatnam and Revupolavaram coasts (Andhra Pradesh, east coast).
