Syn.: Philonthus tamulus Tottenham, 1949: 358 (type locality: Kivu: Tshibinda; preoccupied, junior primary homonym of Philonthus tamulus Cameron, 1932 ); Herman, 2001b: 47 (replaced by Philonthus proselytus Herman, 2001 ).

Distribution: Congo, India, Zaire.
