Lysilinga nigra Webb View in CoL spec. nov.
( Figs. 366, 376, 386, 396, 406, 416, 426, 436, 444, 449)
Etymology
Niger (Latin) = black. This name is used as an adjective and refers to the black coloration of the specimens.
Diagnosis
Lysilinga nigra is taxonomically associated with L. chamela and L. digita in lacking setae on the katepisternum; in having the abdomen dark reddish brown; in having the halter knob dark brown; lacking dorsocentral macrosetae; and the hypoproct quadrate ( Fig. 366). Lysilinga nigra differs from L. chamela and L. digita in having the male frons setose; the anterior half of the ejaculatory apodeme cylindrical (Fig. 436); and the female abdomen dark reddish brown, glossy, pruinescence white on the posterolateral area of tergites 1–7.
Description of holotype male (MEI 101362)

Antenna/head length 0.69; scape and pedicel dark reddish brown, pruinescence gray, flagellum dark brown with apical third of first flagellomere dark yellow; scape length 0.22 mm, width 0.12 mm, length/width 1.8, scape/pedicel length 3.7, scape/flagellum width 0.75, setae dark reddish brown; pedicel length 0.06 mm, length/width 0.5; first flagellomere almost spherical, apical fourth attenuate apically, flagellum length 0.30 mm, width 0.20 mm, length/width 1.9, flagellum/scape length 1.4. Parafacial dark reddish brown, pruinescence gray. Maxillary palpus dark yellow; length 0.36 mm, length/width 5.1; setae dark yellow. Genal setae white. Occipital setae white becoming pale yellow, lanceolate, appressed along margin of eyes dorsally. Postocular macrosetae dark reddish brown.
Thorax. Macrosetae dark reddish brown, 3 np, 2 sa, 1 pa, 0 dc, sc 1. Mesonotum dull brown; setae white, elongate intermixed with pale violet, lanceolate, appressed, polychromatic setae. Pleuron dark reddish brown, pruinescence gray; setae white on propleuron, anepisternum, laterotergite, and metanepisternum, pale violet, lanceolate, appressed, polychromatic on scutellum, absent on katepisternum. Wing. Membrane pale brown becoming darker apically; veins brown; length 4.8 mm, length/width 2.8; pterostigma brown; cell m 3 open widely. Halter dark brown. Legs. Coxal macrosetae dark reddish brown. Femora dark yellowish brown; ventral setae white on fore and midfemur; av 1:0:3, pv 0:0:5. Tibiae dark yellow to pale brown. Tarsi dark yellowish brown.
Abdomen. Dark reddish brown to black, pruinescence white posterolaterally on tergites 5–6; dorsal setae white, appressed; lateral setae white, elongate. Terminalia (MEI 103376), brown. Tergite 8 and epandrium ( Fig. 366), setae dark reddish brown. Hypoproct ( Fig. 366) quadrate, posterior margin truncate; ending below apex of cercus; setae dark reddish brown. Gonocoxite ventral view (Fig. 376), basal threefourths quadrate, posteromedial angle rounded, tapering apically to attenuate projection, setae dark reddish brown; dorsal view (Fig. 486) gonocoxal bridge moderately large; lateral view (Fig. 496) oblong, tapering apically to broad point; ventral lobe (Fig 376) lacking ventral spines. Gonostylus ( Fig. 406), basodorsal lobe absent; ventral margin straight, setae dark yellow; fine, short spines laterally. Aedeagus with dorsal apodeme (Fig. 416) square, posterolateral expansion large, pointed; ventral apodeme ( Fig. 426) narrow, tapered anteriorly to anterior margin of dorsal apodeme; distiphallus dorsal view (Fig. 416) elongate, tapered apically to point with dorsal carina, lateral view (Fig. 436), apical half recurved apically, subapical hood large, curved ventrally to point; ejaculatory apodeme (Fig. 416) dark yellow, anterior half narrow, cylindrical, not extending beyond anterior margin of dorsal apodeme, anterior margin rounded, in crosssection spherical.
