Description

Male carapace dark brown, without pattern or hair, its entire surface covered with fine tubercles. Anterior eye row slightly recurved, posterior eye row straight, slightly wider. Fovea indistinct. Sternum reddish brown, without pattern. Chelicerae 0.75 long, coloured as sternum, with lateral condyle, two promarginal and two retromarginal teeth. Labium as long as wide. Legs with femur coloured as carapace, and other segments pale; tibiae I and II yellowish distally, with seven and six pairs of long, ventral spines, respectively, with longest spine 0.72 long; metatarsi I and II with four pairs of long ventral spines, longest spine 0.57 long; femur I with two, strong, retrolateral spines. Opisthosoma elongate oval, with black hair. Dorsum coloured as carapace, with two pairs of muscular impressions, and two pale, transverse arc-shaped bands located at anterior and posterior one-third, respectively, its posterior end with a short, conical, white apophysis ( Figure 3 View Figure 3. S (a)). Venter reddish brown, and its median area with an anchor-shaped, white pattern. Spinnerets cylindrical, yellowish brown, with anterior ones as long as posterior.

Palpal organ with tibia as long as wide (0.35), with three apophyses, of which two are ventral ( Figures 3 View Figure 3. S (b),(d), 6 (a),(c)) and one dorsal ( Figures 3 View Figure 3. S (c), 6 (b)). Cymbium 1.10 long, 0.52 wide, its terminal portion with scopula ( Figures 3 View Figure 3. S (c),(d)). Genital bulb pear shaped, with a white, spherical, membranous structure close to the base of conductor ( Figures 3 View Figure 3. S (c),6(b)), subtegulum visible in prolateral view ( Figures 3 View Figure 3. S (c), 6 (b)), embolus clearly visible in ventral and prolateral views ( Figures 3 View Figure 3. S (b),(c), 6 (a),(b)), conductor short, slightly bent, with distinct incision in prolateral view ( Figures 3 View Figure 3. S (c), 6 (b)). Sperm-duct visible in retrolateral view ( Figures 3 View Figure 3. S (b),(d), 6 (a),(c)).

Measurements. Male total length 5.70. Carapace 2.75 long, 2.15 wide. Clypeus height 0.15. Opisthosoma 2.80 long, 1.67 wide. AME 0.12, ALE 0.11, PME 0.10, PLE 0.11, AME – AME 0.07, AME – ALE 0.06, AME – PME 0.08, PME – PME 0.12, PME – PLE 0.13, ALE– PLE 0.10. Leg I 8.04 (2.30, 2.99, 1.75, 1.00), II 7.15 (2.10, 2.60, 1.50, 0.95), III 6.11 (1.72, 2.04, 1.45, 0.90), IV 8.57 (2.30, 2.75, 2.35, 1.17), formula: IV, I, II, III.

Etymology

The specific name is derived from the type locality.

Comments

This new species is similar to S. thakek ( Jager 2007: Figures 73– 75) but distinct in its (1) embolus clearly visible in both ventral and prolateral views ( Figures 3 View Figure 3. S (b),(c), 6 (a),(b)) (vs. invisible) and (2) conductor much longer and with distinct incision in prolateral view ( Figures 3 View Figure 3. S (c), 6 (b)) (vs. absent).
