New record. CHINA: Yunnan, Tongbiguan vill. 24–26.vi.2016, 24°36.7′N, 97°39.4E, 1340m, at light in village near river, J. Hájek & J. Růžička, SAX515 [DNA voucher], (1, MSUC) GoogleMaps .

GenBank. COI: OP208788 View Materials and CAD: OP219692 View Materials .

Distribution. China * (Yunnan), United States (Florida, Georgia, South Carolina) ( Smith & Cognato 2022).

Remarks. This species was recently described from an adventive population in the United States. Subsequently, a specimen was discovered in the UFFE cryo-collection of scolytines. Identification of the specimen was confirmed with phylogenetic analysis which placed it sister to the US C. nemesis specimens with 100% bootstrap support ( Fig. 73 View FIGURE 73 ). The Chinese specimen has 6.1% COI and 0.78% CAD sequence difference as compared to the US specimens. This amount of difference is less than 10% COI and 2% CAD differences which are suggested thresholds for xyleborine species limits ( Cognato et al. 2020b).

FIGURE 73. One of 1418 most parsimonious trees reconstructed with COI and CAD data for Cyclorhipidion species. Numbers at nodes represent bootstrap values>90% and “X” indicates unresolved node in the strict consensus of most parsimonious trees. Specimen details are given in Smith & Cognato (2022), except for ‘Cyclorhipidion nemesis China’ which are presented in this publication.
