Revised description. Large, slender, solid shell of up to 15 teleoconch whorls; apical angle ~20°. Protoconch unknown. Early teleoconch weakly convex with periphery just above abapical suture. Sculpture of broad, convex, prominent, orthocline to weakly prosocline axial ribs, separated by narrower interspaces. Beaded subsutural band delimited by moderately incised spiral groove. Suture narrowly impressed. Profile of later teleoconch whorls weakly convex. Axial sculpture weakly sigmoidal. Abapically, subsutural band widens, spiral groove delimiting band weakens, axials weaken, almost subobsolete on last whorl. Last whorl weakly convex, moderately high, ~35% of total height. Gradual transition into low, convex base. Fasciole very prominent, broad, strongly twisted, with prominent growth increments, delimited by sharp carina and separated from base by narrow groove. Aperture narrow, pyriform. Columella weakly twisted, angulated at transition into convex parietal area. Columellar callus forming broad rim, moderately delimited from base. Outer lip thin. Siphonal canal moderately short, wide, deeply notched.
Discussion. Oxymeris buiturica differs from other Neogene Oxymeris species in its axial sculpture, which persists on the last whorls. In addition, it has a shorter spire than Oxymeris modesta ( Defrance, 1829) . Landau et al. (2013) documented a color pattern of spiral row of blotches on the subsutural band, on specimens from the Serravallian of the Karaman Basin ( Turkey), whereas in O. modesta a row of blotches is present just above the suture.
Paleoenvironment. Unknown, probably middle to outer neritic environments based on co-occurring assemblages (own data, M.H.).
Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (Middle Miocene): North Alpine-Carpathian Foreland Basin: Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou ( Czech Republic) (hoc opus); Făget Basin: Bujtur ( Moisescu 1955a); Caransebeş-Mehadia Basin: Valea Bela Reca ( Romania) ( Hinculov 1968); Slanic Basin: Vale Casminele ( Romania) ( Rado & Tudor 1969); Zârand Basin: MiniŞul de Sus ( Romania) ( Nicorici & Sagatovici 1973).
Proto-Mediterranean Sea. Serravallian (Middle Miocene): Karaman Basin: Seyithasan ( Turkey) ( Landau et al. 2013). Tortonian (Late Miocene): Po Basin: Sogliano ( Italy) ( Davoli 1990).
