Genus Kalloleptochelia Guţu, 2016 View in CoL
Type species. Kalloleptochelia robusta Guţu, 2016 View in CoL
Remarks. Guţu (2016) established the genus Kalloleptochelia , which comprises four species: K. maiorina Guţu, 2016 ( Réunion Island, western Indian Ocean), K. pauxilla Guţu, 2016 (Langkawi Island, Malaysia), K. robusta (Bunaken Island, Indonesia), and K. tenuicula ( Makkaveeva, 1968) ( Cuba). In these publications, only the male characteristics were described, although the first morphological description of the female Kalloleptochelia species was probably mentioned in the redescription of Leptochelia tenuicula ( K. tenuicula ) from Martinique Island by Guţu (2011). However, doubts were later raised regarding that particular species ( Guţu 2016: 132).
According to Guţu (2016: 132), the males of Kalloleptochelia species share similarities with those of Alloleptochelia , but they can be distinguished by certain distinct features: 1) the antennule peduncle article-1 is no longer than the carapace (longer than the carapace in Alloleptochelia species); 2) the cheliped is shorter than the body (at least as long as the body in Alloleptochelia species); 3) both the fixed finger and the dactylus of the cheliped have numerous denticles along the incisive margin (only a proximal apophysis, a few proximal denticles or smooth on fixed finger in Alloleptochelia species).
