Laminatubus alvini ten Hove & Zibrowius, 1986: 21–24 View in CoL , figs. 1, 2a, 3. Type locality: 0º47.69’N, 86º07.74’W, off Ecuador.
Diagnosis. Tube thick-walled, smooth, with a longitudinal sinuous ridge. Opercular peduncle smooth. Operculum radially or slightly bilaterally symmetrical, with bulbous proximal part and rounded to inverted saucerlike distal plate ( Figs 7B–C). Thoracic membrane extends to second chaetiger. Collar with “ Spirobranchus ” chaetae, coarsely serrated in the subapical section ( Fig. 7D).
Habitat. Depth: 2,451–2,842 m. Near to hydrothermal vents.
Distribution. Tropical Eastern Pacific. From four hydrothermal vent areas (approx. 1°, 10°, 13° and 21°N) (ten Hove & Zibrowius 1986).
