Diagnosis. Length 2.0– 2.4 mm. Body ( Fig. 1 C) dark brown to black; head and abdomen almost black; elytra and legs paler. Head. Subquadrate, approximately 1.0–1.1 times as wide as long, widest across eyes, slightly narrower than pronotum; eyes large and prominent, about 1.3–1.4 times as long as temples; infraorbital carina incomplete; cervical carina complete. Antennae ( Fig. 4 A) slightly longer than head and pronotum combined; antennomeres 1–3 elongate, 1 longest, 4–10 subquadrate to slightly transverse, 11 longer than wide, about as long as preceding two combined. Thorax. Pronotum approximately 1.2–1.3 times as wide as long, widest at middle; hypomera fully visible in lateral aspect. Elytra slightly longer and wider than pronotum; elytron approximately 1.6–1.7 times as long as wide, postero-lateral margin almost straight. Abdomen. Parallel-sided, convergent at apex; surface distinctly glossy and densely pubescent, with isodiametric and reticulate microsculpture; macrochaetal arrangement of tergites II–VI 02-03-23 -23-23; male tergite VIII ( Fig. 4 B) with four macrosetae on each side of midline, posterior margin with two outer processes and irregular inner processes, emarginate at middle; male sternite VIII ( Fig. 4 C) with about seven macrosetae on each side of midline, posterior margin convex, slightly rounded, with marginal setae; female tergite VIII ( Fig. 4 D) with six macrosetae on each side of midline, posterior margin slightly emarginate in median region; posterior margin of female sternite VIII ( Fig. 4 E) slightly rounded. Aedeagus. Median lobe ( Figs 4 F–G) narrowly ovate, apical process convergent at apex in ventral aspect. Apical lobe of paramerites ( Fig. 4 H) subparallel-sided, with four setae very short; a- and b-seta slightly longer than d- and c-seta. Spermatheca. Bursa elongate, with small umbilicus; duct slender, shortly coiled at apex ( Fig. 4 I).

Type material. Syntype, 1♂, labeled as follows: ‘ Kanagawa Japan. Sauter , dentiventris Bernh. Typ. , dentiventris Bernh . Typus, Chicago NHMus M.Bernhauer Collection’.

Material examined. SOUTH KOREA: Chungnam Prov.: 2 exx., Daejeon-si, Yuseong-gu , Juk-dong , N36°22′14.35″ E127°20′19.16″, 14 iv 2011, JH Song, SG Lee, decaying vegetables, 2 exx., Nonsan-si, Beolgokmyeon , N36°09′10.5″ E127°18′24.9″ 236 m, 22 v 2011, IS Yoo, decaying red pepper. Gyeonggi Prov.: 105 exx. (three on slide), Seoul-si, Seongbuk-gu, Dongseon-dong , 24 v 1988, GS Jang; 3 exx., same data as former except for ‘ 9 v 1988, YS Kim’; 2 exx., Seoul-si, Seocho-gu, Wonji-dong, 1 vi 1985, GS Jang . Jeonbuk Prov.: 1 ex., Mujugun, Anseong-eup , 5 vi 1988, GS Jang, vegetables.

Distribution. Korea (South), China (Beijing) and Japan.

Remarks. Atheta (Datomicra) dentiventris is in agreement with the diagnostic characters, including aedeagus and spermatheca, of A. (Dimetrota) reelsi described by Pace (1998). Therefore, the species may be synonymized under A. (D.) dentiventris . But it is still premature to propose the synonym until thorough comparative and detailed study of the species including type specimens. This species is recorded for the first time in Korea.
