Type species: Platerodrilus sinuatus Pic, 1921 (subsequent designation by Kazantsev 2002).

Remarks. The aedeagus-based classification of the Platerodrilus lineage, with all of its species divided into welldefined three groups, Platerodrilus , Duliticola Mjöberg, 1925 and Platrilus Kazantsev, 2009 , first did not seem to correlate with the molecular analysis, in which all species groups appeared intertwined, and Duliticola and Platrilus were regarded as synonyms ( Masek & Bocak, 2014), then, with a wider range of taxa included in the sequencing, Duliticola was restored as a subgenus, and another subgenus, Zhelongia Li, Pang, et Bocak, 2017, adult males of which are separable only by the DNA data, was added ( Li et al., 2017).
