Type and type locality. The holotype is held at ZMUC and the type locality Tripod Reef, Madang lagoon, PNG, 5°09.8'S, 145°51.3'E ( ZMUC CRU186 ). GoogleMaps
Material examined. All Indonesia. 10 ♂ (3.4, 3.5, 3.7, 3.7, 3,9, 5.6, 5.8, 6.0, 6.1, 6.1 [dissected] mm, average 4.6 mm), 22 ♀ (4.6–6.9 mm, average 5.5 mm), Pulau Serena, Bitung, 1°27'15.804''N, 125°13'29.532''E, 18 July 2014, trap 50 m, coll. C.M. Sidabalok and party ( MZB Cru.Iso 065). 3 ♂ (4.0, 4.6, 5.5 mm), same data as previous (MTQ W52896). GoogleMaps
Remarks. Cirolana leptanga is characterised by the lack of setal fringe on male pereopod 1, pleonite 3 extending beyond posterior of pleonites 4 and 5, penial openings separated by 17% of sternal width, and the uropod apices shallow subequal bifid with the lateral process prominent. Some specimens from Bitung have the appendix masculina bent laterally but otherwise do not differ from the original description. Similar species to Cirolana leptanga have been discussed thoroughly by Bruce (1994).
Distribution. Papua New Guinea at Madang ( Bruce 1986) and North Sulawesi ( Fig 1 View FIGURE 1 ).
